Theology of being ecstatic in God!

Saturday, October 24, 2009 Edit This 0 Comments »
Zec 9:15-17 The LORD of hosts will protect them, and they shall devour, and tread down the sling stones, and they shall drink and roar as if drunk with wine, and be full like a bowl, drenched like the corners of the altar. (16) On that day the LORD their God will save them, as the flock of his people; for like the jewels of a crown they shall shine on his land. (17) For how great is his goodness, and how great his beauty! Grain shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the young women.
In the last few years, the Lord has been revealing to me the state of ecstasy in which He desires His beloved people to live in! WOW, is it really real? It is nearly incomprehensible to those who have not experienced it. But, I believe it is supposed to be so normal for every person who would believe it. It makes me feel way better than anything I have ever experienced. Not in some detached spiritual way, but actually in a way that feels like being really drunk or high, without any of the negative effects.
The highs of the sinful world are merely counterfits of what God is pouring out. I would have argued with this even two years ago. But, now I experience it every day. And, I know it is GOD!! It is all over the Bible. And, I believe it could be described in many ways. The drunkenness of the Spirit is a common description of it today. But, I think the Bible may have just called it JOY!!! But, the joy of GOD is more intense, and overcoming than any experience of earth. Drug and drunk language is the most extreme terminology for it, but even that doesn't touch it. Some mystics have called it ecstasy... That begins to get near the feeling. But, how do you describe an ocean of bliss?
Many people think they have experienced it, when they have not. It is the kind of thing that could literally leave you sitting for days with your mouth open. (Ezekiel 1-2) It is better and more intense than human sexual experience. It is better than adrenaline. It is joy inexpressible and full of glory!!
I only write this post now that you might be provoked as I am to believe that this kind of JOY is possible. It is not dependent on things going right. It is not because I have vast earthly pleasures around me, my wife and I live simply. It is something that most Christians have not yet experienced. Yet, anyone who would drink of Him can have it. It is simply living IN HIM. He is the ocean of bliss!
I am learning to live in this ocean of bliss everyday. And literally, I find myself, almost daily, laughing for long periods of time, often unable to speak, rolling on the floor in bliss, feeling like a little child in awe, able to accept others, and FEELING love-drunk almost constantly. This offends alot of people. So, if you see me, and I don't seem to always be laughing in bliss, it's probably because I'm trying to honor my surroundings. People think you're faking, or showing off, or weird, or just drunk/stoned. But, whatever. When you're in ecstasy it's hard to hide it sometimes. I just want everyone to know they don't have to be sad, lonely, depressed, angry, or whatever anymore, no matter what has happened.
Jesus has taken care of it all. And, now He just wants everyone to come to the party!!! Want a drink??
- Matt (from heaven on earth)
Isa 55:1-2 "Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. (2) Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.
Isa 25:6 On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.
Son 5:1 I came to my garden, my sister, my bride, I gathered my myrrh with my spice, I ate my honeycomb with my honey, I drank my wine with my milk. Eat, friends, drink, and be drunk with love!
1Co 12:13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
1Pe 1:8-9 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, (9) obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.

MATT & KATIE SPINKS
NEWS & UPDATES for March 2009
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Dear friends and partners,
Just wanted to give everyone a bit of an update on us, and say again how grateful we are to those of you who have been supporting us over the months and years! Hope you are enjoying the spring that is just beginning (for those of you in the northern hemisphere!), oh how we are! And, as it says in the Song of Solomon, the season of singing HAS come!! We are rejoicing in the weather, but honestly, more than that, in the real Presence of the LORD. He is so near, and in Him we have everything we need (1 Cor. 1)!
So how are things going with us???
Well, we are moving into March with so much going on in and around us:
Hillside Christian Fellowship
In the fellowship right now, we just returned from a couple day retreat in the woods in beautiful Camp Lutherhaven. It was a wonderful time where about 20 of our friends and fellowship family came together to worship, eat, and re-connect around the God's vision for where we are going. We discussed the themes of 'Prophetic Community', and how we can walk in the Spirit as a committed intentional community in Christ. I was personally so pleased with everything that happened, from our friend Abbey sharing on AGAPE love, to the Holy Spirit party that we had, to just the general friendships that were deepened. It was a time where I believe the Lord moved us another step. When we got back, several people covenanted together with us to go after the Lord together for the long term, taking our community covenant of the 'order of the mustard seed'. For more info on that just look up 'mustard seed order' on google, and or look up a history of 'Count Zinzendorf'. Basically, there's a community promise that we made to each other to be faithful to Jesus, and our covenant community has just grown. We are still believing for a real manifestation of Acts 2:42-47 life to be lived out in the Northside neighborhood of Fort Wayne! Pray for us, and come visit if you can! We have official gatherings right now on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7pm, along with attempting to live life together more and more. 2009 looks to be a real year of growth in the ways of the Spirit, and also in practical outflow to our neighborhood. Check out our little myspace for occassional info: www.myspace.com/hillsidecf
The Fire House Projects
Speaking of practical outflow, our ministry/missional stuff has been moving ahead as well. Our two fundraising events for the Fire House Projects and Fire House Tea & Coffee Cafe went amazingly well. I was most blessed with how our Hillside Fellowship family pulled together to make the events easy and fun! We had a small gathering at the Shilts' home in January, and then a larger one at Come 2 Go ministries building downtown. We raised about a tenth of what we need total, but hey, it's a start. We are moving into follow up with it financially, making individual appeals to interested persons for support. If you are interested in funding The Fire House Projects, please check out our websites at www.thefirehouseprojects.com and www.firehousetea.com for all the info. Both sites have a link to give online, and all donations are tax deductible. We hope to start the cafe in the next few months, all we need is the rest of our start-up capital, a goal of $100,000 dollars. Once the cafe opens, we will be able to open our 24/7 prayer room, start to build more relationships with out neighbors, and look towards some larger goals of creating our monastic house and intentional care for orphans. Under the Fire House Projects, we will also be running our next 5 month intensive discipleship school, starting on July 18th. Katie and I will be leading the school again somewhere in the Northside neighborhood, and in conjunction with the International House of Prayer of Greater Fort Wayne. If you know anyone who is interested, please connect them with us, and have them check out www.holyrevolutionschool.com We are already starting our fundraising for this school as well, where we personally will be needing several thousand dollars. Please pray, and consider a special gift towards this life changing school!
The International House of Prayer
Katie and I are still on staff with IHOP-Fort Wayne as well, spending some time each afternoon or evening in this season in the prayer room, leading prayer meetings, and ministering to the Lord Acts 13:1-2 style. It has been so rewarding, and we have been very encouraged to see literal prayers being answered, including several friends set free into faith and real relationship with the Holy Spirit. If you are at all able to come out IHOP-FW has at least on prayer meeting every evening after 4pm.
Check www.ihopfw.com soon for updated times, but it might be a couple days before the change, we just switched over.
Other Personal Stuff
Katie has just accepted a job offer to work part time with Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services as a living assistant. She will be taking care of two female clients with disabilities, in their homes, starting just on the weekends. She is actually in her training as I write. We have felt like the Lord has been moving us into some part time experience in the 'marketplace', in other words, He is wanting us to get active in a paying job situation. This is not only to help support ourselves, but also to begin to move out a bit into the 'real world', and see how the Holy Spirit may want to use us there. Katie is really excited about this, and I am too. For those of you who know Katie well, you can imagine how much those ladies will be blessed, and how Katie will surely have alot of fun with them. But, please pray for her there as well, as she has never done this kind of work before, and we are expecting challenges too.
I am also looking for part-time work as well, for the same reasons as Katie. We know this is a time for us to be in the marketplace. Though, with everything else that I am doing, it has been hard to find a place that can work with my already tight schedule, especially in this economy. But, the Lord has been reminding me, that He orders my steps as I yeild to Him, and that there is no recession in the kingdom, hallelujah!
There is so much more going on with us, but for the sake of time, I will let you go. Feel free to email us personally, or call us to chat further. We really appreciate our friends, and want to challenge you to give yourselves WHOLE-HEARTEDLY to the Lord in this season, for He has given you abundant grace to do so, and He is so worthy of ALL our hearts!!!
Ministry Needs
As a personal appeal as well, we would like to make known that we do have some needs that you can partner with us on. Our vehicle is in need of repair again, we do have some personal expenses that need to be met, and we are believing the Lord for roughly $3500 for the upcoming discipleship school that we are leading. We know that the Lord will supply our needs, but I want to simply make them known, so that you can pray with us, and know how to partner if you so desire. You can give on our personal myspace page at: www.myspace.com/mattandkatiespinks. Or, you can send a check to our new address at: 2307 Florida Ave. Apt B9 Fort Wayne, IN 46805. If you make the check out to IHOP-FW, it will be tax deductible at the end of the year.
Thank you all again, and may you receive God's richest blessings as you yeild to HIM,
Sincerely,
Matt (and Katie) Spinks

A General Invitation from Matt & Katie Spinks -The Fire House Tea & Coffee Cafe: The Journey Begins (Promo Events!)

Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Edit This 0 Comments »
Dear friends and family,
We are finally making real concrete steps toward the opening of THE FIRE HOUSE TEA & COFFEE CAFE! These are very exciting times for us, and also very daunting. Our vision has always been to see dynamic growth, and real transformation of communities in the Fort Wayne area. Now a very specific step is being made in our personal lives and ministry toward the pursuit of that end, one that will change the course of our lives for many years. We are planning to open this full service tea and coffee cafe within the next six months!! We believe that this cafe as one piece of a number of community projects, will play a significant part in seeing kingdom growth and many lives transformed in Jesus' name. We will have a website up soon explaining more specific details of the vision we have and how we see it all playing out as a part of our new 501c3 non-profit covering 'The Fire House Projects Co.' This site will be up at www.firehousefw.com within the next few days. The Cafe site is already up at www.firehousetea.com .
What I wanted was to send out as personal as possible of an invitation and request for help. This is the largest and most complicated undertaking we have ever been a part of. As we do not have time to send everyone an email individually (though we really would like to!), I'm going to try to hit a few groups here all at once and explain how you might be able to help us. And, if there is any way that you might be able to send us a reply, letting us know your response, and with questions, and comments, this would be the time.
First of all a disclaimer...We know that there are so many groups asking for support, and help, etc., and I really want to release you from any burden, or pressure. We are not trying to form some kind of another big organization that uses people, and ignores the value of real relationships. You guys are our family and friends, and so my hope is that this endeavor can just be a way that we can work together to see some really sweet change and impact in the lives of others. Please forgive me if anyone has felt weirdness in our prior journey in ministry. We love you each individually, and thank you for your role in our lives. We just want to be real, and see some impact together!!
Okay, so what am I actually asking for?
1) We are doing two promo/fundraiser events in the next few weeks. Would you consider attending?
2) Would you consider inviting others and spreading the word about THE FIRE HOUSE TEA & COFFEE CAFE?
3) Would you consider forwarding or re-writing(editing) this letter and sending it out to people that you know who may be interested?
The details for these Promo/Fundraiser Events are as follows:
Smaller Event: Saturday Jan. 31st @ 7pm at 2208 California Ave. 46805
Larger Event: Saturday Feb. 21st @ 7pm at C2G Ministries 323 W. Baker St.
Each of these events will be totally free of charge, and will include tea & product tasting, live music, and the sharing of the Fire House Tea & Coffee Cafe vision.
We are asking that whoever may be attending RSVP if possible, though this is not required.
If you want invite pdfs email us at matt@firehousetea.com.
Thank you all for your friendship and support. Now is a critical time for us to lay a foundation in getting our foot in the door in the marketplace, and to enable our ministry to become self-sustaining. If there was any time whether past or future where we could use partnership, it is now. We are aiming to raise 100k through these promo/fundraisers, etc. Despite the fact that the economy seems unstable, we believe that God's economy is extremely stable, and that we are joining with Him. If you are at all able to join with us, please respond to this letter and let us know how.
Blessings and thanks,
Matt (and Katie) Spinks
Director of the Fire House Projects Co.
________________________________________________________________
Post Script:
To answer two questions that we have been recieving already:
1) Please use discretion in inviting those who might be interested in partnership w/ The Fire House Projects Co., since as a small new organization, we are not aiming to serve free products to the masses at our events!!
2) Donations recieved at the events will be tax-deductible.

vacation & Jason upton

Hey friends, we're on vacation till the 23rd of Jan. staying with an amazing friend of ours, John Hunt.

While we're resting, I'm checking back into the Song of Solomon, and asking God to refresh my love for Him again, by revealing His love...

In the midst of everything, I am blown away again and again by the clarity and honesty of Jason Upton... Check out his site www.jasonupton.net at anytime, and you will never miss an opportunity to weep or laugh or hear the word of the Lord. Good timing for this vacation...

new year, new mercies, new revelation!!

Monday, January 05, 2009 Edit This 0 Comments »
I haven't written in a long time, so I apologize to those of you who really read this (you honor me by caring about my life and thoughts!). But, it's a new year, and I have a few moments to breathe after finishing an intense season of leading the HRDS, starting our new non-profit organizational covering, and leading a trip of 25 people to the OneThing Kansas City conference, in the midst of family holiday get-togethers! Whew that even made me tired to write. But it's a good tired, of really resting in the will of God, thank You Jesus!!

So, it's really a new year, and I feel his mercies anew. Along with that I sense fresh vision and new revelation, which I will write down for those who track with us.

I am sensing this year will solidify the stepping out in faith that began last year. Starting the tea-house, 24-7 prayer room, and continuing to develop the discipleship school, and beginning to really share Jesus with new people and in more boldness.

Here's some random downloads of what to pray for/expect in this new year:

- New wine '09 yay!
- More signs '09 yay! (I just like those clever rhymes, hey!)
- Learning to be a father/move in apostolic w/ perseverance
- Song of Solomon 8:6
- more boldness, less fear of man
- Increased prayer in our region
- short-term trips to Fiji, India, nations ???
- more evening prayer meetings
- seeing power and light come to our new apartment building
- the forerunner life-style really preparing the way for Jesus' return
- increased preaching/teaching ministry and opportunities
- monastic community progress
- God raising up David's, and tearing down Saul's
- greater fear of the Lord & humilty
- confidence in love
- greater trials, but greater victories
- provision and facilities
- growth in the beattitudes
- growth in love for my wife

Those are what come to me right now, and that's without my journal in front of me

Bless you as you surrender your year to Him,

Matt

Recent Message of Vision given to our community...

Here's a recent message I (Matt) gave to Hillside Christian Fellowship. I share it here for anyone who wants to get an overview of what is a bit of our vision for spiritual community. Just click on the following link: 24/7 Christianity .mp3
The message was accompanied by four diagrams which look like the following (click on the pic to enlarge):

What are we up to?

That is how I feel on the inside.

How to hold it in? Well sometimes it gets out...hahahahahahe
